The ideal gigging amp for those who want rich, sparkly tones and warm bass notes that fill out the room. The Royale 'T' is a 40w US-style amp that gives classic clean tone powered by a pair of 6L6’s. The Pre-amp has been designed to give you anything from the rich spanky tones of the 60’s blackface through to the throaty growl of the Tweed era.

The amp has a volume and master volume control, enabling you to vary between pre-amp and power amp drive to suit your style and guitar. The pre-amp has the standard Fender blackface tone stack with added Bright switch and Warm switch. The 3 position 'Bright' switch gives you the choice between a modern John Mayer-ish tone, a 'normal' Fender blackface tone and a super bright tone. The 2 position 'Warm' switch gives you the ability to add in more bass notes if required.

The tremolo (the 'T' in Royale 'T') gives you plenty of scope to fill out your sound whilst giving you clear defined variations in volume with its standard speed and depth control.

The reverb is a valve-driven spring reverb that has been developed to give you a smooth reverb that doesn't 'bark' at you.

The Royale 'T' comes with a Jenson Alnico 12” speaker as standard but we are more than happy to fit the speaker of your choice; just get in touch and we can discuss.

Hi and Low inputs give the flexibility to use different pickups and vary the amount of drive you want.

Like all our amplifiers, the Royale 'T' is a hand-wired amp for life. It is easily maintained, and any modification that may be required in the future can easily be accommodated.

Housed in a dovetailed pine cabinet, finished with a medium oak stain and wax. All of our pine is reclaimed, with all knots and grain visible, making your amp unique. If the pine finish is not your thing, then give us a call and we will happily arrange alternatives.

We also offer the service of adjusting the 'voice' of the amp to suit your ear once you have played it for a month or so. Certain aspects of the circuit can be altered to give you more clean headroom, more drive, or adjust your tone. We are happy to work with you to achieve the best out of your amp.

Below is a sound bite of the 40w Royale’T’ being used both for a bit of rhythm (with a lovely warm trem) and a bit of lead. Our friend Ian Stone (from Bootleg Floyd) very kindly demoed on the clip, showing what he can do with just volume controls on his guitar and volume controls on the Royale ‘T’. Absolutely no pedals or recording effects were used so that you can get the real raw sound of the amp. Recorded using a Behringer B906 Condenser mic and a Sure SM57, Scarlett 2i2 interface and GarageBand.

Your Questions, Answered

  • To place an order simply give us a call and we can talk through your choice of amp just so we know you are heading down the right path. Once that is established we would ask for a 20% deposit so we can start work on the build. During the build we will send you regular updates to check on progress. Once built we would ideally invite you to the workshop to try the amp out. If you are unable to make it to the workshop we would simply courier the amp to you.

  • When we describe a ‘US’ style amp we are mainly referring to ‘Fender’ style amps. 

    When describing a British style, we would generally be talking about Marshall or Vox style amps.

    Obviously, there are many, many other good brands from all over the world but these are the most common and recognisable.

  • Not only do we repair and service amps, but we can also help to ‘revoice’ your amp. An example of revoicing your amp includes changing the frequency response of your tone stack or giving your amp more clean headroom. Give us a call to discuss whats possible.

    Please note, this is only really possible with hand-wired amps (as opposed to PCB-constructed amps).

  • Yes. With all our amps we offer the free service of adjusting the ‘voice’ of the amp to suit your ear once you have played it for a month or so. Certain aspects of the circuit can be altered to give you more clean headroom, more drive or adjust the tone.

    Regarding the appearance, we would like to work with you so that you end up with an amp you are proud of. We specialise in stained pine finish and would discuss with you to establish which finish you would prefer.

  • This is such a subjective question and the only true way to establish this is to try a handfull of Vyse amps so you can identify which style suits your sound and style of playing. Sometimes you need to have two different amps so that you can achieve the best out of your gear.

  • We currency only ship to the UK including Northern Ireland.

  • We offer a 12 month warranty on parts and labour on all new builds. 

    There is a 3 month warranty on any of our ex-demo, ‘ready to ship’ amps.

  • When choosing a handwired British amplifier you are guaranteeing the future of your amp. We call them ‘amps for life’ as all the components are easily maintainable and replaceable. This means that the amps would possibly last longer that its owner!

  • Yes. All of our builds are carried out in the same way. We hand build all of circuit boards from scratch and individually solder each component. 

    The cabinets are all hand built using reclaimed pine.

  • Handwired amps are easy to work on, easy to maintain and upgrade. Well made PCB’s (Printed Circuit Boards) are cheaper to manufacture and can sometimes sound just a good as a handwired circuit boards, however when it comes to maintainability they can have a few issues. If a component fails on a PCB it is sometimes difficult to replace it properly without disrupting the boards integral copper tracks. Once you have a damaged copper track on your PCB you are on an uphill battle to not contain the damage.

    Eyelet or turret boards give the luxury of being able to maintain, service and upgrade you amplifier as and when you want. 

    All Vyse amps are handwired and constructed so that any decent amplifier tech would be able to work on them easily.
